Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at St. Thomas More Catholic School

At St Thomas More, we are committed to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background or financial situation, is given the opportunity to succeed and thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to help schools close the attainment gap between disadvantaged pupils and their peers. This includes pupils who are currently eligible for free school meals (FSM), those who have been eligible in the last six years (Ever 6), children who are looked after or have been adopted from care, and children of service personnel.

Our Aims

We use the Pupil Premium funding to:

  • Raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

  • Support the emotional and social development of eligible pupils.

  • Provide equal access to enrichment opportunities, resources, and experiences.

  • Our Approach

We take a strategic, evidence-based approach to the use of Pupil Premium funding, which includes:

  • High-quality teaching and targeted academic support.

  • Access to interventions for emotional well-being and mental health.

  • Opportunities for personal development, such as trips, clubs, and music lessons.

  • Support for families to engage with their child’s learning.

  • Impact of Funding

We evaluate the impact of Pupil Premium spending through:

  • Tracking pupil progress and attainment.

  • Reviewing attendance, behaviour, and engagement data.

  • Gathering feedback from pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Annual reviews and updates to our Pupil Premium strategy.

Our Pupil Premium strategy is reviewed annually and published on our website. We report on how the funding has been used and the impact it has made on pupil outcomes.
