Good Shepherd Appeal Assembly
On Thursday 31st March classes shared a Good Shepherd Appeal assembly. We learnt more about the history and work of the charity. We also were given information about how the money we are currently fundraising for will be used to help vulnerable groups across the Archdiocese. We even had some fundraising tips! Thank you to Margot Scotford from Father Hudson’s Care for sharing her resources with us. Click the link to see the slideshow.
Lenten Charity Appeal 2022
Our Lenten charity this term is the Father Hudson’s Society Good Shepherd Appeal. For over 100 years, school children in the Archdiocese have supported the work of the Father Hudson’s Society through abstinence and sacrificial giving during Lent. The Good Shepherd Appeal plays an important part in helping the Father Hudson’s Society to care for those in need. The Society reaches out to many children and families who need help and support in our Archdiocese.
Pupils have already received a Good Shepherd Appeal envelope to save the money they would normally spend on sweets and other treats. We are encouraging the children to participate in:
We are hoping that a member of Father Hudson’s Society will come and address the children about the essential work of the organisation during a whole school assembly this term. It will help us all recognise where the money we raise is going and will also show who and how the funds are helping through the work of the Society.
Let’s all get fundraising together as part of our almsgiving this Lent.
Fundraising for Cafod
Well done to Zach for raising over £80 to help build 3 wells for people in need of access to clean water. His intent and call for action are very clear and we are proud of him.
The children take part in a variety of charity events throughout the year. For example we raise food for the local food bank Shelter at Harvest and Christmas. The children choose which charities they wish to support and raise funds for them. Most recently was a cake bake sale raising funds to help build wells for people to have clean water. The school community supports the Father Hudson appeal every year by sending donations into school during Lent.
