We have enjoyed another busy day here at the Beacon. The weather has been dry and mild and we had a lovely time at the beach this afternoon, making sandcastles, digging, finding fish and crabs, watching people swim in the sea and making memories.
Year 5 have been busy in Science, the children explored how mass and weight are related using Newton meters. They discovered that mass (grams/kilograms) stays the same, while weight (newtons) is the force of gravity acting on an object. It was exciting to see them measure and compare different objects!
We have had a fantastic time exploring movement and coordination by rolling balls and pom-poms down cardboard tubes and drain pipes. The children loved watching how different objects moved at varying speeds and directions, and it sparked lots of curiosity and excitement
As a school community, we have lived out this teaching by donating so generously to the North Oxfordshire Community foodbank. As part of our LiveSimply journey, the Year 6 pupils met Brian from the foodbank on Tuesday and helped him to load all of the items we have collected into the van. The children also had time to chat with him and ask him about the work that they do help others.

What an amazing day of races, cheers, teamwork, and sunshine! The children gave it their all and showed brilliant sportsmanship throughout.

We had a wonderful time on our Year 6 SATs trip today. As the children approach the end of their primary school journey, more special memories have been made.😃
What a wonderful time we had yesterday at the Oxfordshire museum. The children really threw themselves into the experience and were absolutely brilliant.
The staff there thought our children were fantastic. I was told how lovely they are and how kind they are to each other. I already know they are amazing, but it’s lovely to hear it from other people too. You should be so proud of them all.
The children have taken part in Refugee Week and participated in a range of activities to help them understand more about the challenges people face when they are forced to flee their homes. All classes held a prayer service during the week and linked the teachings of Jesus with actions that we can take to others.
This is another action completed on our whole school journey to achieve the LiveSimply award.
Today we held our Jubilee Pledge Day. During June or July, Catholic Schools are invited to refresh and renew their mission statement. We seized the opportunity and are very excited to announce our new school motto: “Do all that you do with Love.”
We held a whole school assembly where the school mission and motto was shared and discussed with children and staff. Children will take time this week to make their own pledges for how they can live out this motto.
Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils who made their First Holy Communion. The service was a joyous celebration and the children were reverent and prayerful.

On Sunday 15th June, our Year 6 pupils made their first Sacrament of Confirmation at St Thomas More Church. The Auxiliary Bishop of Birmingham, Richard Walker led the service and each child participated fully through leading the readings and prayers of the faithful.
