Year 4 have been learning about symmetry in 2D shapes. Using mirrors, the children investigated and identified lines of symmetry, helping them to understand how shapes can be divided into matching halves. They enjoyed exploring different shapes and testing their predictions.
Year 1 have continued developing their programming skills using ScratchJr. The children have been learning how to programme their sprites (characters) and, this week, explored how to change backgrounds and select different characters for their projects. They enjoyed experimenting with new features while building their confidence in coding.
Year 6 have been busy becoming Pope Leo experts! They researched his life and achievements and then showcased everything they discovered in some fantastic double-page spreads.
We are so impressed with the effort, creativity and presentation that has gone into their work. Take a look at the photos below to see their brilliant learning in action! πβ¨ποΈ
Well done, Year 6! ππ
Year 2 have been busy learning about time, including how many hours are in a day and how many minutes are in an hour. The children also practised telling the time using “minutes past” and “minutes to,” as well as learning to read o’clock and half past times. Overall, they have developed a total understanding of telling the time.
This week, the whole school took part in a special prayer service, linking our current RE
learning with our new virtue focus of Attentive and Discerning.
Together, we listened to the Gospel account of the first Pentecost and reflected on how the
Holy Spirit gave the disciples courage, wisdom and guidance. We then joined in prayer,
asking the Holy Spirit to help us listen carefully, make good choices and follow God's call in
our daily lives.
The children wrote their own prayers to the Holy Spirit, considering how they can show
courage and faith by being attentive and discerning in their words, actions and relationships
with others.
As part of this reflection, every child created a dove or flame symbol to represent the Holy
Spirit. These beautiful creations will come together to form a whole-school Pentecost display
in the hall, celebrating our shared faith and commitment to living out our virtues each day.
Year 5 enjoyed an Alice in Wonderland themed walk through Christ Church Meadow, following in the footsteps of Lewis Carroll. As part of their school visit to The Story Museum, the children explored interactive exhibits and storytelling activities, bringing books and imagination to life.
The whole school celebrated Ascension Day Mass, remembering Jesus returning to heaven 40 days after Easter. Year 3 led the readings, prayers, and offertory beautifully.
Father Damian spoke about the Holy Spirit, and the children joined in reverently, including practicing the sign of the cross. The singing, including the Gloria, was joyful and uplifting.
Well done to Harvey and Annika (Year 5) for supporting music and slides, and to our Year 6 helpers and altar servers, who were praised for their teamwork and conduct.
